A verdant, if somewhat, isolationist region in the northern reaches of the Tōhoku mountains.
Kitakami is famed for it’s bountiful plains and forests. Despite the relatively remote location the regions sees a wide variety of Pokémon biodiversity.
2017 marks the first year that Kitakami chose to open its borders to outsiders during the Festival of the Mask. An annual tradition in which one abandons their pretences and prior relationships and undergoes a three day masquerade festival. Old rivalries are buried, new friendships are born. Elders become novices and novices gain a chance to shine as the social strata is buried, reduced and reborn over a long weekend of festivities.
