Fairly Annoying Questions #1

Hey guys, just a short one today. We’ve a had a few write-ins from loyal readers and I suppose now’s as good a time as any to cover the topics raised to me by my loyal readers.
So, without further ado let’s get to the questions!

The Prime Battler Puzzler

Question: Who’s the League Champion this year?
Answer: Nobody knows yet! Sorry to disappoint but until some brave or foolish soul manages to attain all eight badges and march up the plateau to knock on the Elite Fours doors, and then beat them in combat, it’ll just have to remain a mystery! Word has it there are two trainers out there who have thus far managed to get three badges, from Vermilion, Saffron and Lavender no less, but that’s not been confirmed yet thanks to the recent hard reset of the Cloyster Relay System but as soon as they return into range of the network we’ll find out for sure. Other than that we have a confirmed group of trainers who have claimed the Wingnut Badge and are now making waves in Saffron, a lone trainer who has braved the gruelling training of Viridian and claimed Arden’s Badge and one final newcomer to the region who is pipped to make a play for the Saffron Gym some time this week, make sure to attend during the opening hours to watch that battle in person if you’re in the area.

Team Plasrocket?

Question: Whatever happened to those guys you wrote about in the first article? It seemed like we were on the verge of a resurgence of villainy?
Answer: Ah, the Beginner’s Cup. It was only two months ago but sometimes it feels like it’s been a year or more. Well, that group I mentioned in the last answer is the very same selection of trainers. Was I wrong about them? That’s the wrong question. The question is, ‘How can I prove I was right about them all along?’ and the answer is, I can’t. Frankly they’re either baffling inept villains or actual decent, if flawed, individuals. Time will tell, but frankly the initial salacious gossip rag angle was only to drum up interest and it was all I knew after leaving the Vermilion Daily. The short answer is this, they’ve been seen in the company of the some of the most controversial and lambasted members of Kanto society… and also some of the kindest, most benevolent and richly beloved members. If I was wrong about them, well, I’m sorry, if I was right then HAHAHA I KNEW IT ALL ALONG AND I GOT THE SCOOP!

Destination Unown?

Question: I’ve noticed you sometimes cover odd bits of Kanto history, I’d love it if you could do the same for Johto some day!
Answer: Well, one, that’s not a question, and two, Johto has so much history and hidden lore that it’s probably not feasible for me to cover it without upending my life and moving to Johto for the foreseeable years.

The Professor Poser

Question: Whatever happened to Professor Samanea? Seems like he’s still missing, any updates? Does that mean the other guy is taking his spot as regional Professor?
Answer: None at all, last seen leaving the Beginner’s Cup in late June. And as for the… other one. Well, the League has a bit of a pickle on their hands in that one. At some point they’ll have to choose but frankly it’s a Hobson’s Choice, loyal reader. Do they pick the lunatic whose research vacillates between madcap, irresponsible research into esoteric theories or, well, you see where I’m going with this.

Cycle Paths

Question: I heard that Route 17 just finished the remodelling and now allows pedestrians, is that true or is it Watchogwash?
Answer: Pedestrians? On Cycling Road? Madness, dear reader, madness! It will never catch on! I dare say the very idea of it spits in the face of everything Cycling Road was created for. The freedom to feel the wind in your hair, the sea breeze striking at you with the salty tang of adventure as jet skis in the water below spray up rooster tails of glittering cyan water, the calls of the Wingull and the Pidgey soaring along the airborne currents, the thrill of the downhill trajectory ripping your bicycle along at speeds never seen on level ground! On the horizon, basking in the rich golds, deep purples and resplendent hues of it’s very namesake, Fuchsia City, the southern terminus of Kanto, soaked in history. As the you approach and night falls, the city lights up in neon, searchlights rake the skies! The waterfront becomes the social hub and the night life takes over. Why, to even suggest such a thing is ludicrous and- oh. I’m getting a note from Millie, she says that yes, actually, Route 17 is now open to rollerblading, skateboards, riding Pokémon, motorcycles, go-karts, single occupant electric vehicles and worst of all, pedestrians.
